Amends the Fire Protection District Act. Provides that a fire protection district may post electronically in a manner that is accessible to the general public ordinances imposing any penalty or making any appropriation instead of publishing the ordinances in a newspaper. Effective immediately.

| 1 | | AN ACT concerning local government.
|
| 2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
| 3 | | represented in the General Assembly:
|
| 4 | | Section 5. The Fire Protection District Act is amended by |
| 5 | | changing Section 7 as follows:
|
| 6 | | (70 ILCS 705/7) (from Ch. 127 1/2, par. 27)
|
| 7 | | Sec. 7. Posting and publication of ordinances. All |
| 8 | | ordinances imposing any penalty or making any appropriations
|
| 9 | | shall, within one month after they are passed, be (i) posted |
| 10 | | electronically in a manner that is accessible to the general |
| 11 | | public or (ii) published at least once
in a newspaper published |
| 12 | | in said district, or if no such newspaper of
general |
| 13 | | circulation is published therein, then either by one |
| 14 | | publication in
any newspaper of general circulation within said |
| 15 | | territory or by posting
copies of the same in ten public places |
| 16 | | in the district. No ; and no such
ordinance shall take effect |
| 17 | | until ten days after it is so published or
posted, and all |
| 18 | | other ordinances and resolutions shall take effect from and
|
| 19 | | after their passage unless otherwise provided therein.
|

| 21 | | Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon |
| 22 | | becoming law.
