| 7 | | Sec. 10-21.11. Infectious disease policies and rules. To

| 8 | | develop policies and adopt rules relating to the appropriate |
| 9 | | manner of
managing children with chronic infectious diseases, |
| 10 | | not inconsistent with
guidelines published by the State Board |
| 11 | | of Education and the Illinois
Department of Public Health. Such |
| 12 | | policies and rules must include
evaluation of students with a |
| 13 | | chronic infectious disease on an individual
case-by-case |
| 14 | | basis, and may include different provisions for different age
|
| 15 | | groups, classes of instruction, types of educational |
| 16 | | institution,
and other reasonable classifications,
as the |
|

| 1 | | school board may find appropriate. School boards are urged, |
| 2 | | under these policies and rules, to allow students to wash their |
| 3 | | hands with a soap or detergent if they wish to do so.

| 4 | | This requirement applies to all school districts and public |
| 5 | | schools of
this State, including special charter districts, |
| 6 | | Department of Corrections
school districts, laboratory schools |
| 7 | | operated by the governing board of a
public university, and |
| 8 | | alternative schools operated by a regional
superintendent of |
| 9 | | schools.
