| 1 | | AN ACT concerning public aid.
|
| 2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
| 3 | | represented in the General Assembly:
|
| 4 | | Section 5. The Illinois Public Aid Code is amended by |
| 5 | | adding Section 12-4.44 as follows:
|
| 6 | | (305 ILCS 5/12-4.44 new) |
| 7 | | Sec. 12-4.44. Report on centralizing administrative |
| 8 | | functions. The Department of Healthcare and Family Services, |
| 9 | | with the cooperation of the Department of Human Services, shall |
| 10 | | provide a report to the General Assembly by January 1, 2012, |
| 11 | | regarding the feasibility and potential consequences of |
| 12 | | centralizing administrative functions, to the extent allowable |
| 13 | | under federal law, for applicants applying only for medical |
| 14 | | assistance. The report shall include, but need not be limited |
| 15 | | to, an analysis of centralizing administrative functions in a |
| 16 | | statewide or regional centers administered by either public or |
| 17 | | private entities, and an analysis of the impact of removing |
| 18 | | medical assistance only cases from the caseload assigned to |
| 19 | | employees in local Department of Human Services field offices |
| 20 | | that accept and process applications for benefits.

| 21 | | Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect July 1, |
| 22 | | 2011.
