50 ILCS 705/3  from Ch. 85, par. 503

    Amends the Illinois Police Training Act. Provides that the Executive Director of the Illinois Board of Higher Education shall no longer serve on the Illinois Law Enforcement Training Standards Board.

1    AN ACT concerning local government.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The Illinois Police Training Act is amended by
5changing Section 3 as follows:
 
6    (50 ILCS 705/3)  (from Ch. 85, par. 503)
7    Sec. 3. Board - composition - appointments - tenure -
8vacancies. The Board shall be composed of 18 19 members
9selected as follows: The Attorney General of the State of
10Illinois, the Director of State Police, the Director of
11Corrections, the Superintendent of the Chicago Police
12Department, the Sheriff of Cook County, the Director of the
13Illinois Police Training Institute, the Special Agent in Charge
14of the Springfield, Illinois, division of the Federal Bureau of
15Investigation, the Executive Director of the Illinois Board of
16Higher Education and the following to be appointed by the
17Governor: 2 mayors or village presidents of Illinois
18municipalities, 2 Illinois county sheriffs from counties other
19than Cook County, 2 managers of Illinois municipalities, 3
20chiefs of municipal police departments in Illinois having no
21Superintendent of the Police Department on the Board and 2
22citizens of Illinois who shall be members of an organized
23enforcement officers' association which has no other members on

1the Board other than the chief of a municipal police
2department, the Special Agent of the Federal Bureau of
3Investigation, the Director of State Police, a county sheriff
4or deputy sheriff. The appointments of the Governor shall be
5made on the first Monday of August in 1965 with 3 of the
6appointments to be for a period of one year, 3 for 2 years, and
73 for 3 years. Their successors shall be appointed in like
8manner for terms to expire the first Monday of August each 3
9years thereafter. All members shall serve until their
10respective successors are appointed and qualify. Vacancies
11shall be filled by the Governor for the unexpired terms.
