| 1 | AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 1981

| 2 | AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend House Bill 1981 by replacing | ||||||
| 3 | everything after the enacting clause with the following:

| 4 | Section 10. The Township Code is amended by changing | ||||||
| 5 | Section 50-20 as follows:
| ||||||
| 6 | (60 ILCS 1/50-20)
| ||||||
| 7 | Sec. 50-20. Counties with no township collector. No | ||||||
| 8 | collector in counties under 100,000. | ||||||
| 9 | (a) No collector in counties under 100,000. In counties | ||||||
| 10 | under
township organization, having a population of less than | ||||||
| 11 | 100,000, there shall be
no township collector elected. The | ||||||
| 12 | county collector shall be ex-officio
township collector, and | ||||||
| 13 | all the duties of the township collector shall devolve
upon and | ||||||
| 14 | be performed by the county collector.
| ||||||
| 15 | (b) No collector in counties over 2,000,000. In counties | ||||||
| 16 | having a population of more than 2,000,000 inhabitants there | ||||||
| |||||||
| |||||||
| 1 | shall be no township collector elected on and after the | ||||||
| 2 | effective date of this amendatory Act of the 97th General | ||||||
| 3 | Assembly. Upon the completion of the terms of office of | ||||||
| 4 | township collectors holding office on the effective date of | ||||||
| 5 | this amendatory Act of the 97th General Assembly, the township | ||||||
| 6 | assessor shall be the ex-officio township collector, and all | ||||||
| 7 | the duties of the township collector shall devolve upon and be | ||||||
| 8 | performed by the township assessor. | ||||||

| 10 | Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon | ||||||
| 11 | becoming law.".
