leave. The rules shall be adopted and filed with |

months after the assessor takes |
| 7 | | office. A multi-township assessor shall file
the rules with the |
| 8 | | clerk of each township in the district. Amendments to the

| 9 | | shall be filed with the appropriate township clerk or clerks by |
| 10 | | their
effective date.

| 11 | | (c) The compensation of any employee in the office of the |
| 12 | | township or multi-township assessor may not be increased during |
| 13 | | the period between the consolidated election and the following |
| 14 | | January 1st. |

| 16 | | Section 10. The Township Code is amended by adding Section |
| 17 | | 55-57 as follows: |

| 19 | | Sec. 55-57. Destruction of records. Any person who |
| 20 | | knowingly and without lawful authority alters, destroys, |
| 21 | | defaces, removes, or conceals any township record or township |
| 22 | | property commits a business offense and, upon conviction, shall |
| 23 | | be fined not more than $5,000.
