| 1 | | AN ACT concerning education.
|
| 2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
| 3 | | represented in the General Assembly:
|
| 4 | | Section 5. The School Code is amended by adding Section |
| 5 | | 22-65 as follows:
|
| 6 | | (105 ILCS 5/22-65 new) |
| 7 | | Sec. 22-65. Enrollment information; children of military |
| 8 | | personnel. At the time of annual enrollment or at any time |
| 9 | | during the school year, a school district or a recognized |
| 10 | | non-public school, except for sectarian non-public schools, |
| 11 | | serving any of grades kindergarten through 12 shall provide, |
| 12 | | either on its standard enrollment form or on a separate form, |
| 13 | | the opportunity for the individual enrolling the student to |
| 14 | | voluntarily state whether the student has a parent or guardian |
| 15 | | who is a member of a branch of the armed forces of the United |
| 16 | | States and who is either deployed to active duty or expects to |
| 17 | | be deployed to active duty during the school year. Each school |
| 18 | | district and recognized non-public school shall report this |
| 19 | | enrollment information as aggregate data to the State Board of |
| 20 | | Education under the Student Information System (SIS).

| 21 | | Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon |
| 22 | | becoming law.
