| 1 | | AN ACT concerning elections.

| 2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
| 3 | | represented in the General Assembly:
|
| 4 | | Section 5. The School Code is amended by adding Section |
| 5 | | 9-1.5 as follows:
|
| 6 | | (105 ILCS 5/9-1.5 new) |
| 7 | | Sec. 9-1.5. Advisory referenda. By a vote of the majority |
| 8 | | of the members of the school board, the board may authorize an |
| 9 | | advisory question of public policy to be placed on the ballot |
| 10 | | at the next regularly scheduled election in the school |
| 11 | | district. The school board shall certify the question to the |
| 12 | | proper election authority, which must submit the question at an |
| 13 | | election in accordance with the Election Code, provided, |
| 14 | | however, that no such question may be submitted at a |
| 15 | | consolidated primary election.
