| 1 | | AN ACT concerning utilities.

| 2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,

| 3 | | represented in the General Assembly:

| 4 | | Section 5. The Public Utilities Act is amended by adding |
| 5 | | Section 8-209 as follows:
|
| 6 | | (220 ILCS 5/8-209 new) |
| 7 | | Sec. 8-209. Utility credit reporting. If a public utility |
| 8 | | reports a customer to a credit reporting agency for non-payment |
| 9 | | of an outstanding utility bill, then a public utility shall |
| 10 | | notify the credit reporting agency within 5 business days of |
| 11 | | any full payment made with certified funds or cash. For the |
| 12 | | purposes of this amendatory Act of the 97th General Assembly, |
| 13 | | certified funds means instruments that are guaranteed by the |
| 14 | | issuing institution or have cleared the issuing institution.
