AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 5228 




2    AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend House Bill 5228 by replacing 
3everything after the enacting clause with the following:


 
 
4    "Section 5. The Township Code is amended  by changing 
5Section 30-110 as follows:
 



6    (60 ILCS 1/30-110)



7    Sec. 30-110. Impounding and sale of animals. 
8    (a) The electors may authorize the
distraining, 
9impounding, and sale of cattle, horses, mules, asses, swine,

10sheep, and goats for penalties incurred and the costs of the 
11proceeding. The
sale of animals distrained or impounded shall 
12be conducted, as near as may be
practicable, according to the 
13law regulating sales of property by sheriffs for
the 
14satisfaction of a judgment of the circuit court. The owner of 
15the animals
may redeem them from the purchaser at any time 
16within 3 months from the date of
the sale by paying the amount

1of the purchaser's bid, with reasonable costs for
their keeping 
2and interest upon the amount bid at the rate of 10% per annum.

3    (b) The electors may also prohibit the running at large of 
4dogs and cats and authorize the impounding of dogs found 
5running at large
and provide for their destruction at the end 
6of a reasonable period of time if
they are not claimed and the 
7cost of impounding paid.

8    (c) In a township that is located in a county that does not 
9license or register cats and dogs, the electors may authorize 
10the requirement that dogs and cats be registered with the 
11township. The electors may also authorize the imposition of a 
12reasonable fee for the registration.

14    Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon 
15becoming law.".
