Amends the Illinois Municipal Code. Authorizes the corporate authorities of a municipality to license and regulate the use and operation of multi-family dwelling units. Defines "multi-family dwelling units". Provides that the fee for the license may not exceed $25. Effective immediately.

| 1 | | AN ACT concerning local government.
|
| 2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
| 3 | | represented in the General Assembly:
|
| 4 | | Section 5. The Illinois Municipal Code is amended by adding |
| 5 | | Section 11-30-3.5 as follows: |
| 6 | | (65 ILCS 5/11-30-3.5 new) |
| 7 | | Sec. 11-30-3.5. Multi-family dwelling units. |
| 8 | | (a) In order to promote the public health and safety and |
| 9 | | the health and safety of the occupants of the premises herein |
| 10 | | defined, the corporate authorities may license and regulate the |
| 11 | | use and operation of multi-family dwelling units. |
| 12 | | "Multi-family dwelling unit" means a building or buildings |
| 13 | | providing housing to 5 or more households. |
| 14 | | (b) The fee for any license authorized under this Section |
| 15 | | may not exceed the sum of $25 per year.

| 16 | | Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon |
| 17 | | becoming law.
|
