AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 5914 




2    AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend House Bill 5914 by replacing 
3everything after the enacting clause with the following:


 
4    "Section 5. The University of Illinois Act is amended  by 
5adding Section 80 as follows:
 
6    (110 ILCS 305/80  new)
7    Sec. 80. Search committee funding prohibition. State funds 
8or tuition or fees charged students may not be used to fund a 
9hiring search committee, except to the extent that such funds 
10are paying the salary of university employees who are a part of 
11the hiring search committee.
 
12    Section 10. The Southern Illinois University Management 
13Act is amended  by adding Section 65 as follows:
 
14    (110 ILCS 520/65  new)

1    Sec. 65. Search committee funding prohibition. State funds 
2or tuition or fees charged students may not be used to fund a 
3hiring search committee, except to the extent that such funds 
4are paying the salary of university employees who are a part of 
5the hiring search committee.
 
6    Section 15. The Chicago State University Law is amended  by 
7adding Section 5-175 as follows:
 
8    (110 ILCS 660/5-175  new)
9    Sec. 5-175. Search committee funding prohibition. State 
10funds or tuition or fees charged students may not be used to 
11fund a hiring search committee, except to the extent that such 
12funds are paying the salary of university employees who are a 
13part of the hiring search committee.
 
14    Section 20. The Eastern Illinois University Law is amended  
15by adding Section 10-175 as follows:
 
16    (110 ILCS 665/10-175  new)
17    Sec. 10-175. Search committee funding prohibition. State 
18funds or tuition or fees charged students may not be used to 
19fund a hiring search committee, except to the extent that such 
20funds are paying the salary of university employees who are a 
21part of the hiring search committee.

2by adding Section 15-175 as follows:
 
3    (110 ILCS 670/15-175  new)
4    Sec. 15-175. Search committee funding prohibition. State

6fund a hiring search committee, except to the extent that such 
7funds are paying the salary of university employees who are a 
8part of the hiring search committee.
 
9    Section 30. The Illinois State University Law is amended  by 
10adding Section 20-180 as follows:
 
11    (110 ILCS 675/20-180  new)
12    Sec. 20-180. Search committee funding prohibition. State 
13funds or tuition or fees charged students may not be used to 
14fund a hiring search committee, except to the extent that such 
15funds are paying the salary of university employees who are a 
16part of the hiring search committee.
 
17    Section 35. The Northeastern Illinois University Law is 
18amended  by adding Section 25-175 as follows:
 
19    (110 ILCS 680/25-175  new)
20    Sec. 25-175. Search committee funding prohibition. State

4    Section 40. The Northern Illinois University Law is amended  
5by adding Section 30-185 as follows:
 
6    (110 ILCS 685/30-185  new)
7    Sec. 30-185. Search committee funding prohibition. State 
8funds or tuition or fees charged students may not be used to 
9fund a hiring search committee, except to the extent that such 
10funds are paying the salary of university employees who are a 
11part of the hiring search committee.
 
12    Section 45. The Western Illinois University Law is amended  
13by adding Section 35-180 as follows:
 
14    (110 ILCS 690/35-180  new)
15    Sec. 35-180. Search committee funding prohibition. State 
16funds or tuition or fees charged students may not be used to 
17fund a hiring search committee, except to the extent that such 
18funds are paying the salary of university employees who are a 
19part of the hiring search committee.".
