| 2 | | WHEREAS, Safety is the highest priority for the streets and |
| 3 | | highways of our State; and
|
| 4 | | WHEREAS, The great State of Illinois is proud to be a |
| 5 | | national leader in motorcycle safety, education, and |
| 6 | | awareness; and
|
| 7 | | WHEREAS, Motorcycles are a common and economical means of |
| 8 | | transportation that reduces fuel consumption and road wear, and |
| 9 | | contributes in a significant way to the relief of traffic and |
| 10 | | parking congestion; and
|
| 11 | | WHEREAS, It is especially meaningful that the citizens of |
| 12 | | our State be aware of motorcycles on the roadways and recognize |
| 13 | | the importance of motorcycle safety; and
|
| 14 | | WHEREAS, The members of A Brotherhood Aimed Toward |
| 15 | | Education (A.B.A.T.E.) of Illinois, Inc. continually promote |
| 16 | | motorcycle safety, education, and awareness in high school |
| 17 | | drivers' education programs and to the general public in our |
| 18 | | State, presenting motorcycle awareness programs to over |
| 19 | | 100,000 participants in Illinois over the past 5 years; and
|
| 20 | | WHEREAS, All motorcyclists should proudly and actively |

| 1 | | promote the safe operation of motorcycles, as well as promote |
| 2 | | motorcycle safety, education, and awareness; and
|
| 3 | | WHEREAS, The motorcyclists of Illinois have contributed |
| 4 | | extensive volunteerism and money to national and community |
| 5 | | charitable organizations; and
|
| 6 | | WHEREAS, During the month of May, all roadway users should |
| 7 | | unite in the safe sharing of roadways within and throughout the |
| 8 | | great State of Illinois; therefore, be it
|
| 9 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
| 10 | | NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, THE |
| 11 | | SENATE CONCURRING HEREIN, that in recognition of over 610,000 |
| 12 | | registered motorcyclists statewide, 26 years of A.B.A.T.E. of |
| 13 | | Illinois, Inc., and in recognition of the continued role |
| 14 | | Illinois serves as a leader in motorcycle safety, education, |
| 15 | | and awareness, we do hereby proclaim the month of May as |
| 16 | | Motorcycle Awareness Month in the State of Illinois; and be it |
| 17 | | further
|
| 18 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
| 19 | | presented to A.B.A.T.E of Illinois as a symbol of our esteem |
| 20 | | and respect.
