Proposes to amend the Legislature Article of the Illinois Constitution. Provides that the salary or cost of living adjustment of members of the General Assembly may be increased by a joint resolution adopted by two-thirds of the members elected to each house of the
General Assembly. Requires that the joint resolution must also be approved by a majority of the
electors voting on the question at the next general election
following the adoption of the joint resolution. Effective upon being declared adopted.

| 6 | | electors of the State for adoption or rejection at the general |
| 7 | | election next occurring at least 6 months after the adoption of |
| 8 | | this resolution a proposition to amend Section 11 of Article IV |
| 9 | | of the Illinois Constitution as follows:

| 13 | | SECTION 11. COMPENSATION AND ALLOWANCES
|
| 14 | | (a) Except as provided in subsections (b) and (c), a A |
| 15 | | member shall receive a salary, cost of living adjustment, and |
| 16 | | allowances as provided by law. |
| 17 | | (b) Changes , but
changes in the salary of a member shall |
| 18 | | not take effect during the term
for which he or she has been |
| 19 | | elected. An increase in the cost of living adjustment of a |
| 20 | | member shall not take effect during the term of which he or she |
| 21 | | has been elected. |
| 22 | | (c) The salary or cost of living adjustment of members of |
| 23 | | the General Assembly may be increased by a joint resolution |
