HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, Tom Matousek began his fire service career on July 
315, 1979, serving 30 years with the Forest Park Fire Department 
4and the Associated Fire Fighters of Illinois (IAFF) Local 2753, 
5until his retirement in 2009; and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, Tom Matousek was a charter member of the 
7Associated Fire Fighters of Illinois Honor Guard, beginning 
8January 30, 1993, and became its State Commander at the Itasca 
9Honor Guard Convention in 2006; and
  
 
10    WHEREAS, Tom Matousek is a very strong proponent for union 
11labor and has served IAFF Local 2753 in many capacities, 
12including 20 years as the President; and
  
 
13    WHEREAS, Tom Matousek battled for the Forest Park Fire 
14Department, IAFF Local 2753's first union contract, and never 
15lost a grievance while serving as President; and
  
 
16    WHEREAS, Organizations such as the Associated Fire 
17Fighters of Illinois are strong and successful due to strong 
18leaders like Commander Matousek; and
  
 
19    WHEREAS, Tom Matousek authored the Associated Fire 
20Fighters of Illinois Honor Guard oath "To Honor, To Cherish, To

1Remember, To Salute, With Overwhelming Pride, For You, My 
2Comrade, I Will"; and
  
 
3    WHEREAS, Tom Matousek is retiring as State Commander of the 
4Associated Fire Fighters of Illinois Honor Guard; therefore, be 
5it
  
 
6    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
7NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
8we congratulate Tom Matousek on his retirement and request that 
9he enjoy it, along with his children, Kristin, Anthony, and 
10Kyle; and be it further
  
 
11    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
12presented to AFFI Honor Guard Commander Tom Matousek as a 
13symbol of our respect and esteem.
