HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. was founded on 
3January 5, 1911, in Bloomington, Indiana, on the campus of 
4Indiana University; 2011 is the 100th anniversary of the 
5organization; and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. was founded 
7nearly fifty years after the end of slavery; and
  
 
8    WHEREAS, The Fraternity fashioned Achievement as its 
9fundamental purpose and united college men of culture, 
10patriotism, and honor in a Bond of Fraternity; and
  
 
11    WHEREAS, Kappa Alpha Psi sponsors programs providing 
12community service, social welfare, and academic scholarship; 
13and
  
 
14    WHEREAS, The Chicago Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi 
15Fraternity, Inc. was chartered as the first Alumni Chapter on 
16April 17, 1919, in the City of Chicago; and
  
 
17    WHEREAS, The Chicago Metro Chapters of Kappa Alpha Psi was 
18established in 1984 and now consists of Alumni Chapters from 
19Chicago, Gary, Indiana, Evanston, Chicago Heights, Waukegan, 
20Maywood-Wheaton, Harvey-Markham, and Richton Park, and

1Undergraduate Chapters of Theta, Iota, Epsilon Omicron, Zeta 
2Alpha, Theta Zeta, Iota Lambda, and Kappa Phi; and
  
 
3    WHEREAS, The Chicago Metro Chapters celebrate the 
4Fraternity's 100th anniversary during its 27th Annual Chicago 
5Metro Founders' Day Celebration on January 15, 2011; therefore, 
6be it
  
 
  
7    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
8NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
9we recognize the past and ongoing contributions of the Chicago 
10Metro Chapters of the Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.; and be 
11it further
  
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
13presented to a representative of the Chicago Metro Chapters of 
14Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. as a symbol of our respect and 
15esteem.
