HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives are pleased to congratulate Bank of Herrin 
4President Carl Goodwin on his retirement; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, He began his career working after school in the 
6bookkeeping department of the bank; after college and 2 years 
7serving with the United States Army, he worked at The Bank of 
8Egypt in Marion, working through the ranks from assistant 
9cashier, to cashier, to Vice President and Cashier; and
  
 
10    WHEREAS, He joined the Bank of Herrin in October of 1990 as 
11vice president and cashier; he became executive vice president 
12and CEO, trust officer and when his father stepped down as 
13president, was promoted to president and trust officer; and
  
 
14    WHEREAS, Carl Goodwin is a graduate of the Illinois Banks 
15Association Banking School at Southern Illinois University, 
16the ABA Graduate School of Banking in Madison, Wisconsin, the 
17Cannon Trust School, and the ABA National Trust School at 
18Northwestern University; and
  
 
19    WHEREAS, He will serve as President Emeritus and bank 
20director and will be available if needed during the transition 
21process; and

1    WHEREAS, He will spend more time with his wife, Cookie, 
2upon retirement, enjoying time with their children and 
3grandchildren; therefore, be it
  
 
4    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
5NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
6we congratulate Carl Goodwin on his retirement and wish him all 
7the best in his future endeavors; and be it further
  
 
8    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
9presented to Carl Goodwin as a symbol of our respect and 
10esteem.
