HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives are pleased to congratulate Jim Detzler on the 
4occasion of his retirement as president of the Oswego Fire 
5Protection District; and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, Jim Detzler has been a long-time Oswego resident 
7and business owner; and
  
 
8    WHEREAS, Jim Detzler began his 5-decade career in 
9firefighting as a volunteer firefighter at the age of 21; in 
10addition to his work as president of the Oswego Fire Protection 
11District, he served a lengthy stint in the 1980s as Oswego fire 
12chief and as Oswego village president from 1985 to 1991; and
  
 
13    WHEREAS, Under Jim Detzler's leadership, the Oswego Fire 
14Protection District has grown from 40 volunteers in a single 
15station to 60 people in 4 stations, and the number of calls the 
16District takes has grown from 200 calls a year when he began as 
17fire chief to over 4,000 annually today; and
  
 
18    WHEREAS, Jim Detzler was instrumental in the creation of a 
1924-hour paramedic service in the Oswego Fire Protection 
20District; and

1    WHEREAS, Jim Detzler serves as a model of hard work, 
2integrity, and dedication for the people of the State of 
3Illinois; therefore, be it
  
 
4    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
5NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
6we congratulate Jim Detzler on the occasion of his retirement 
7and wish him many happy and healthy retirement years; and be it 
8further
  
 
9    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
10presented to Jim Detzler as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
