| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 | | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Jack E. |
| 4 | | Cook of Elgin, who passed away on February 1, 2011; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, He was born on September 12, 1924 in Elgin; he was |
| 6 | | a life-long resident of Elgin, a graduate of the University of |
| 7 | | Illinois School of Pharmacy, and the proprietor of Parkview |
| 8 | | Drugs, Cook's Pharmacy, and Manor Pharmacy; and
|
| 9 | | WHEREAS, He was an active sponsor, manager, and coach of |
| 10 | | Cook's Cardinals women's fast-pitch baseball and women's |
| 11 | | hockey teams; and |
| 12 | | WHEREAS, He was appointed to the Kane County Board from |
| 13 | | District 20 in 1989, and won election the following year; he |
| 14 | | served on the Board for 15 years, during which he also served |
| 15 | | as President of the Forest Preserve District for 8 years; and
|
| 16 | | WHEREAS, He helped create Chicago Wilderness, a regional |
| 17 | | alliance dedicated to protecting nature and enriching life; |
| 18 | | today there are more than 250 organizations involved in the |
| 19 | | program; and |
| 20 | | WHEREAS, He was a proud veteran of World War II and the |
