| 2 | | WHEREAS, Parkinson's disease is a progressive neurological |
| 3 | | movement disorder of the central nervous system; the disease |
| 4 | | has a unique impact on each patient; and

| 5 | | WHEREAS, According to the Parkinson's Action Network, |
| 6 | | Parkinson's Disease Foundation, the National Parkinson |
| 7 | | Foundation, the American Parkinson Disease Association, and |
| 8 | | the National Institutes of Health, there are over one million |
| 9 | | Americans diagnosed with Parkinson's disease; and
|
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Symptoms of Parkinson's disease include slowness, |
| 11 | | tremor, difficulty with balance and speaking, rigidity, and |
| 12 | | cognitive and memory problems; and
|
| 13 | | WHEREAS, Although new medicines and therapies may enhance |
| 14 | | life for some time for people with Parkinson's disease, more |
| 15 | | work is needed for a cure; and
|
| 16 | | WHEREAS, Increased education and research are needed to |
| 17 | | find more effective treatments with fewer side effects and, |
| 18 | | ultimately, a cure for Parkinson's disease; and |
| 19 | | WHEREAS, A multi-disciplinary approach to Parkinson's |
| 20 | | disease care includes local wellness, support, and caregiver |
