HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives are pleased to congratulate Zara Johnson on 
4being named Mrs. Illinois on February 11, 2011; and

  
 
5    WHEREAS, She competed in various categories, which are the 
6same as the events in the Mrs. America competition; and
 
7    WHEREAS, She had only three weeks to prepare for the Mrs. 
8Illinois pageant, which was held at the Bolingbrook Performing 
9Arts Center and came with $15,000 in prizes; and
  
 
10    WHEREAS, She is  now making preparations to attend the 
11national Mrs. America Pageant at the Greenbrier Resort in White 
12Sulphur Springs, West Virginia, which will be held from March 
1331 to April 15, 2011; and

  
 
14    WHEREAS, The Mrs. America pageant features contestants 
15from all 50 states and the District of Columbia; it will be 
16televised on April 15, 2011; and
 
17    WHEREAS, A Mrs. Illinois has never won the national crown, 
18but they have twice taken the second runner-up spot, including 
19last year; and

1    WHEREAS, Mrs. Johnson is employed by Cicero's Development 
2Corporation of Plainfield, where she has worked for 21 years; 
3and
 
4    WHEREAS, The new Mrs. Illinois is married to Hank Johnson, 
5and has two sons and two grandchildren; therefore, be it
  
 
6    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
7NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
8we congratulate Zara Johnson on her outstanding achievement in 
9being named Mrs. Illinois for 2011, and we join with her 
10friends and family in wishing her continued success in the 
11future; and be it further
  
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
13presented to Zara Johnson as a symbol of our respect and 
14esteem.
