| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 | | Representatives are pleased to congratulate the members of the |
| 4 | | Calhoun County Farm Bureau on the occasion of the |
| 5 | | organization's 90th anniversary; and
|
| 6 | | WHEREAS, The Calhoun County Farm Bureau held its first |
| 7 | | annual meeting in 1921; the organization's first president was |
| 8 | | Albert Frank, who served from 1921 to 1931; from 1921 to 2011, |
| 9 | | the organization has had 21 presidents; the organization's |
| 10 | | current president, Robert Reed, has served as president since |
| 11 | | 1995; and
|
| 12 | | WHEREAS, The Calhoun County Farm Bureau has been |
| 13 | | instrumental in numerous improvements in Calhoun County in the |
| 14 | | last 90 years; the bureau wrote the grant and solicited funds |
| 15 | | to bring an ambulance to Calhoun County in 1974; the county's |
| 16 | | first EMT class was held in the Farm Bureau building in the |
| 17 | | fall of 1974; the bureau was responsible for bringing a doctor |
| 18 | | to Calhoun County over 30 years ago; the bureau worked with |
| 19 | | John Block for seven years to get the Farmland Assessment Bill |
| 20 | | written, passed, and implemented; the bureau curtailed the |
| 21 | | Scenic Byway from coming into Calhoun County; the bureau was |
| 22 | | also responsible for the drafting of House Bill 704, which |
| 23 | | allowed Calhoun County and two other counties to go from three |
