HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of United
4States Army Specialist Andrew Paul Wade of Antioch, who passed
5away on March 9, 2011; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Spc. Andrew Wade was born on February 27, 1989, in
7Fort Hood, Texas; he was the son of Douglas and Elizabeth
8(Hagedorn) Wade; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Spc. Andrew Wade grew up in Antioch; he was a 2007
10graduate of Antioch Community High School, where he was a very
11active soccer player; during high school, he started with the
12varsity team for two years and was one of the few juniors to
13aid the team in winning the regional and divisional
14championships, including the North Suburban Conference Prairie
15Division crown, assisting on one of the two goals that led to
16the victory; he was named for All-Sectional Honors by the
17Illinois High School Soccer Coaches Association and the Daily
18Herald All-Area Team in 2006; he also played with the Chicago
19Kickers Soccer Club for six years; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Spc. Andrew Wade joined the United States Army in
21September of 2008 as a 5th generation soldier; after completing
22his basic training at Fort Benning, Georgia, he was assigned to

1the 1st Battalion, 87th Infantry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat
2Team of the 10th Mountain Division at Fort Drum, New York; he
3was deployed to serve in Afghanistan in support of Operation
4Enduring Freedom in the spring of 2010; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Spc. Andrew Wade earned many decorations and
6awards for his service, including the NATO Medal, the Army
7Commendation Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the
8Afghanistan Campaign Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service
9Medal, the Army Service Ribbon, the Overseas Service Ribbon,
10and the Combat Infantryman Badge; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Spc. Andrew Wade was a member of St. Peter Church;
12and
 
13    WHEREAS, Spc. Andrew Wade was preceded in death by his
14paternal grandparents, Paul and Deloriouse Wade; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Spc. Andrew Wade is survived by his parents,
16Elizabeth and Douglas Wade; his sister, Alicia (Damon)
17Litchfield; his brothers, Steven and Jonathan Wade; his
18maternal grandparents, Mary Jane Hagedorn and Richard
19Hagedorn; his nieces, Veronica Mauritz and Haley Braverman; and
20his nephews, Derrion and Dominic Litchfield; therefore, be it

1NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
2we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of
3Specialist Andrew Paul Wade; and be it further
 
4    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
5presented to the family of Spc. Andrew Wade as an expression of
6our sympathy.
