| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 | | Representatives are pleased to congratulate Assistant Chief |
| 4 | | Rodney Oxe on his retirement from the Batavia Fire Department; |
| 5 | | and
|
| 6 | | WHEREAS, He began his career with the Batavia Fire |
| 7 | | Department as a paid, on-call firefighter on April 7, 1971, |
| 8 | | after serving in Vietnam; he was promoted to Lieutenant on |
| 9 | | November 17, 1975, to Captain on January 18, 1984, and to his |
| 10 | | current position as Assistant Chief on August 5, 1992; and
|
| 11 | | WHEREAS, He has also served as the Department Mechanic |
| 12 | | since January of 1984; in addition, he also worked full-time at |
| 13 | | the Fermi Lab Fire Department from 1977 to 2008; and
|
| 14 | | WHEREAS, During his time with the Fire Department, |
| 15 | | Assistant Chief Oxe has been instrumental in the purchase of |
| 16 | | all the fire apparatus and writing specifications for the |
| 17 | | vehicles purchased; he has also been responsible for the daily |
| 18 | | maintenance of the entire fleet; and
|
| 19 | | WHEREAS, He was named Firefighter of the Year in 1990 and |
| 20 | | has served as Incident Commander and Acting Fire Chief in times |
| 21 | | of need; and
|
|

| 2 | | WHEREAS, He holds a bachelor's degree in Fire Service |
| 3 | | Administration and many certifications, including Firefighter |
| 4 | | III, Emergency Medical Technician B, Fire Officer II, Fire |
| 5 | | Prevention Officer I, Instructor II, Tunnel Rescue, Fire |
| 6 | | Apparatus Engineer, Confined Space and Trench Rescue, and the |
| 7 | | highest certification for a fire department mechanic, |
| 8 | | Emergency Vehicle Technician; and
|
| 9 | | WHEREAS, He is a member of the Kane County Fire Chiefs |
| 10 | | Association, the Illinois Fire Chiefs Association, and the |
| 11 | | Illinois Fire Apparatus Mechanics Association, where he served |
| 12 | | as President in 1988, 1990, and 1991; and
|
| 13 | | WHEREAS, He and his wife, Sharron, are the proud parents of |
| 14 | | Daryn and Dawn and the proud grandparents of Sawyer, Spencer, |
| 15 | | Sydni, and Taylor; therefore, be it
|
| 16 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
| 17 | | NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
| 18 | | we congratulate Assistant Chief Rodney Oxe on his retirement |
| 19 | | and wish him all the best in his future endeavors; and be it |
