HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives are pleased to recognize Dr. Vernon O. Crawley 
4for his leadership as President of Moraine Valley Community 
5College in Palos Hills; and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, Dr. Vernon O. Crawley has provided distinguished 
7leadership as the fourth president of Moraine Valley Community 
8College in Palos Hills since 1991; he is currently the 
9longest-serving community college president in the State of 
10Illinois; and
  
 
11    WHEREAS, President Crawley has led the college through 
12remarkable growth in programs, enrollment, and campus 
13expansion, including a new science hall, a business and 
14conference center, a student union, a renovated student center, 
15and education centers in Blue Island and Tinley Park; and
  
 
16    WHEREAS, President Crawley has overseen continued 
17enrollment growth with the spring

2011 enrollment, reaching a 
18record high of 20,100 students; and
  
 
19    WHEREAS, President Crawley has brought prominence to 
20Moraine Valley through his leadership roles on national, State, 
21and local organizations; and

1    WHEREAS, Under his leadership the college has earned 
2rankings among the top 8 percent in associate's degrees 
3conferred and has awarded 47,000 degrees and certificates since 
4the college's founding in 1967; therefore, be it
  
 
5    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
6NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
7we recognize and commend Dr. Crawley for his two decades of 
8leadership excellence in service to Moraine Valley Community 
9College, the 26 communities in the Moraine Valley district, and 
10the Illinois Community College System; and be it further
  
 
11    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
12presented to Dr. Vernon Crawley as a symbol of our respect and 
13esteem.
