HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives are pleased to congratulate the staffs of 
4Advocate Christ Medical Center and Advocate Hope Children's 
5Hospital in Oak Lawn as they celebrate the 50th anniversary of 
6the institutions; and
  
 
7    WHEREAS, The celebration, "Salute 2011", will be held on 
8April 9, 2011 at the Field Museum in Chicago; and
  
 
9    WHEREAS, Chicago's very own CBS television news anchor Bill 
10Kurtis will emcee the event; former Chicago Bears player and 
11coach Mike Ditka will deliver the keynote address; and
  
 
12    WHEREAS, The hospital opened its doors on March 22, 1961, 
13as a six-story building with fewer than 200 patient beds; by 
141966, the hospital was expanding with the addition of three new 
15floors; today the hospital has 695 beds and is a teaching and 
16research institution, with more than 1,000 physicians and 5,500 
17associates; and

  
 
18    WHEREAS, In 2006, the institution launched a 10-year 
19strategic plan to expand the work of both Advocate Christ 
20Medical Center and Advocate Hope Children's Hospital, with a 
21vision to become one of the very best adult and pediatric

1hospitals in the country; therefore, be it
  
 
2    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
3NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
4we congratulate everyone involved with the anniversary 
5celebration of Advocate Christ Medical Center and Advocate Hope 
6Children's Hospital and wish them the very best in their future 
7endeavors; and be it further
  
 
8    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
9presented to a representative of Advocate Christ Medical Center 
10and Advocate Hope Children's Hospital as a symbol of our 
11respect and esteem.
