| 1 | HOUSE RESOLUTION

| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives wish to honor the Shen Yun Performing Arts | ||||||
| 4 | show, held at the Civic Opera House in Chicago on April 15 and | ||||||
| 5 | 24, 2011; and
| ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, Shen Yun Performing Arts is the world's premier | ||||||
| 7 | traditional Chinese dance and music company; and | ||||||
| 8 | WHEREAS, Shen Yun introduces audiences to a world of | ||||||
| 9 | heavenly realms, ancient heroes, and the themes of virtue, | ||||||
| 10 | compassion, and courage; and | ||||||
| 11 | WHEREAS, For 5,000 years of Chinese history, China's | ||||||
| 12 | divinely imparted culture, including Chinese dance, music, and | ||||||
| 13 | other art forms, was continuously refined as its elegance | ||||||
| 14 | developed; and | ||||||
| 15 | WHEREAS, The Shen Yun show in Chicago aims to be a showcase | ||||||
| 16 | of traditional Chinese culture, a platform for cross-cultural | ||||||
| 17 | understanding between the East and West, and a unifying event | ||||||
| 18 | for all people interested in Chinese culture and performing | ||||||
| 19 | arts; and
| ||||||
| 20 | WHEREAS, The State of Illinois prides itself on having a | ||||||
| |||||||
| |||||||
| 1 | thriving arts community, as well as audiences that truly | ||||||
| 2 | appreciate the beauty of our diversity; and
| ||||||
| 3 | WHEREAS, The Mid-USA Falun Dafa Association is dedicated to | ||||||
| 4 | the promotion and practice of the principles of "Truthfulness, | ||||||
| 5 | Compassion, and Tolerance," and endeavors to extend far and | ||||||
| 6 | wide these most precious and noble human ideals; and
| ||||||
| 7 | WHEREAS, The Sound of Hope Radio is an independent | ||||||
| 8 | Chinese-language media company and a not-for-profit | ||||||
| 9 | organization dedicated to facilitating cross-cultural | ||||||
| 10 | communications between the East and West, and to assisting the | ||||||
| 11 | public in their search for valuable cultural knowledge; | ||||||
| 12 | therefore, be it

| 13 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
| 14 | NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
| 15 | we welcome the Shen Yun Performing Arts troupe to the State of | ||||||
| 16 | Illinois and wish them continued success in all their | ||||||
| 17 | endeavors; and be it further
| ||||||
| 18 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 19 | presented to the Sen Yun Performing Arts troupe as a symbol of | ||||||
| 20 | our respect and esteem.
