HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives are pleased to congratulate the congregation 
4of the Harristown Christian Church on the church 
5sesquicentennial; and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, The 150th anniversary of the church will be 
7celebrated on April 10, 2011  at the church; and
  
 
8    WHEREAS, The church was formed on March 15, 1861 after the 
9merger of two small Disciples congregations, the Miller's 
10school congregation and the Berea congregation; and
  
 
11    WHEREAS, The building used by the Miller's school 
12congregation was moved to accommodate the merger to a lot next 
13to where the current church is located; and
  
 
14    WHEREAS, The structure was replaced in 1865 and again in 
15December of 1917, when the current church was dedicated; 
16therefore, be it

  
 
17    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
18NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
19we congratulate the congregation of the Harristown Christian 
20Church and wish them all the best in the future; and be it
