HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives are pleased to congratulate the DuPage County 
4Board of Health and the citizens of DuPage County on the 
5occasion of being named one of the healthiest counties in the 
6State of Illinois by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the 
7University of Wisconsin's Population Health Institute; and
  
 
8    WHEREAS, A comprehensive study prepared by the Robert Wood 
9Johnson Foundation and the University of Wisconsin's 
10Population Health Institute ranked every county in the nation, 
11comparing them to others in their state; the study gauged 
12numerous factors, such as the rate of people dying before age 
1375, the percentage of people who report being in fair or poor 
14health, the number of days people report being in poor physical 
15condition, the number of days in poor mental health, and the 
16rate of low birth-weight infants; and
  
 
17    WHEREAS, For the second straight year, DuPage County ranks 
18second in the State for "health outcomes", how healthy a county 
19is, and ranks first in the "health factors" that influence the 
20health of a county; in addition, DuPage County improved its 
21ranking in the "physical environment" subcategory from 83rd 
22place last year to fifth this year; and

1    WHEREAS, The DuPage County Board of Health has initiated 
2numerous health programs in DuPage County, including the 
3unwanted-medicine collection program, obesity prevention 
4program, and "Start The Heart", a program aimed at reducing 
5deaths due to sudden cardiac arrest; and

  
 
6    WHEREAS, The citizens of DuPage County and the members of 
7the DuPage County Board of Health serve as models of healthy 
8living for the people of the State of Illinois; therefore, be 
9it
  
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
11NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
12we congratulate the DuPage County Board of Health and the 
13citizens of DuPage County on earning this wonderful distinction 
14and wish them continued success and happiness in the future; 
15and be it further
  
 
16    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
17presented to the DuPage County Board of Health as a symbol of 
18our esteem and respect.
