HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives are pleased to congratulate Jacob Tucker on the 
4occasion of his victory at the 23rd annual State Farm College 
5Slam Dunk and 3-Point Championships; and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, Jacob Tucker is currently a senior at Illinois 
7College in Jacksonville; he plans to graduate in the spring of 
82011 with a degree in exercise science and sports management 
9and work as a personal trainer at a fitness facility next year; 
10and
  
 
11    WHEREAS, Jacob Tucker is a member of Illinois College's 
121,000-point club; as a senior, he averaged 14.8 points and 7.1 
13rebounds while shooting 50% from the field and leading the 
14Midwest Conference in steals; he was also an All-Midwest 
15Conference first team selection; and
  
 
16    WHEREAS, Jacob Tucker began his quest to get into the State 
17Farm College Slam Dunk and 3-Point Championships\ when he 
18posted a video of himself on YouTube going through a series of 
19dunks in a mostly empty gymnasium at Division III Illinois 
20College in Jacksonville; he subsequently earned the right to 
21compete in the contest after winning a fan vote on Facebook for 
22the final entry spot; and

1    WHEREAS, Jacob Tucker was up against seven Division I 
2players in the contest and, at 5'10", was the shortest 
3competitor to enter the contest; in a tight final round against 
4John Williams of UNC Asheville, Mr. Tucker rebounded from two 
5missed attempts with a thunderous reverse slam over Illinois 
6College teammate Nathan Kohler to win the contest; and
  
 
7    WHEREAS, Jacob Tucker serves as a model of hard work, 
8integrity, and dedication for the people of the State of 
9Illinois; therefore, be it
  
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
11NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
12we congratulate Jacob Tucker on the occasion of his victory at 
13the 23rd annual State Farm College Slam Dunk and 3-Point 
14Championships and wish him continued success and happiness in 
15the future; and be it further
  
 
16    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
17presented to Jacob Tucker as a symbol of our esteem and 
18respect.
