| 1 | HOUSE RESOLUTION

| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives are pleased to congratulate John Schuldt, | ||||||
| 4 | Carpentersville Fire Chief, on being named the 2011 Illinois | ||||||
| 5 | Fire Chief of the Year by the Illinois Fire Chiefs Association; | ||||||
| 6 | and
| ||||||
| 7 | WHEREAS, The Illinois Fire Chiefs Association consists of | ||||||
| 8 | 1,222 fire chiefs and officers from fire departments and fire | ||||||
| 9 | protection districts from across the State; and
| ||||||
| 10 | WHEREAS, John Schuldt has served as Fire Chief of | ||||||
| 11 | Carpentersville since 1996, and won the award in the category | ||||||
| 12 | for a full-time paid or combination department that serves a | ||||||
| 13 | population of more than 25,000 people; and
| ||||||
| 14 | WHEREAS, The Illinois Fire Chiefs Association recognized | ||||||
| 15 | Chief Schuldt for his local, State, and national contributions | ||||||
| 16 | to the firefighting community; on the local level, he has held | ||||||
| 17 | sessions with teenagers on the dangers of alcohol and drugs, | ||||||
| 18 | designed a fire prevention program for seniors, and helped | ||||||
| 19 | develop the Kane County Investigators Task Force that sends | ||||||
| 20 | certified investigators to fire departments that need them; and
| ||||||
| 21 | WHEREAS, Statewise, he was appointed to the Illinois Fire | ||||||
| |||||||
| |||||||
| 1 | Advisory Commission by Governor Pat Quinn in 2010; he also | ||||||
| 2 | served as the Illinois Fire Chiefs Association's president in | ||||||
| 3 | 2005 and 2006, during which time the group successfully pushed | ||||||
| 4 | the State to require self-extinguishing cigarettes; on the | ||||||
| 5 | national level, Chief Schuldt, as president of the Association, | ||||||
| 6 | sat on the first committee that discussed inter mutual aid with | ||||||
| 7 | 35 other states; and
| ||||||
| 8 | WHEREAS, The Carpenter Park healing field for about 1,900 | ||||||
| 9 | missing-in-action Vietnam War veterans was brought to the | ||||||
| 10 | community by Chief Schuldt and was a large factor in the | ||||||
| 11 | Illinois Fire Chiefs Association's decision to award him as | ||||||
| 12 | 2011 Illinois Fire Chief of the Year; he is a Carpentersville | ||||||
| 13 | native and has 34 years of service in the fire department; | ||||||
| 14 | therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 15 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
| 16 | NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
| 17 | we congratulate Chief Schuldt on his award and thank him for | ||||||
| 18 | his years of service to the community; and be it further
| ||||||
| 19 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 20 | presented to Carpentersville Fire Chief John Schuldt as a | ||||||
| 21 | symbol of our respect and esteem.
