HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate Deirdre White of Elgin on receiving the Altrusa International Club of Elgin, Inc., Woman of the Year 2011 Award; and

WHEREAS, Deirdre White exemplifies the Altrusa keys of Amity, Loyalty, Talent, Reciprocity, Unity, Service, and Achievement; and

WHEREAS, Deirdre White is a volunteer, working with the YWCA Holiday Appeal and the YWCA Leader Luncheon in Elgin; she is responsible for the Cinderella's Closet program, providing local teen girls with the total prom shopping experience; the program collected gently used dresses, shoes, and accessories and held a one-day shopping event for local teen girls; and

WHEREAS, She works with the Downtown Neighborhood Association, working with the 4th of July Parade, the Promotions Committee, and other events; she works with the Elgin Junior Service Board as the Board President, and is co-chair of the Dental Program, works with the Clothing Center, and has begun many new programs; and

WHEREAS, She presently works with the Elgin schools promoting dental education; she also works with Prairie View Grade School; she is a Daisy Leader and a Brownie Leader, and a soccer coach; she has worked with the Muscular Dystrophy program; she has assisted at the local animal shelters; she is a neighborhood volunteer; and she has worked with Big Brothers/Big Sisters, as well as many other events and organizations throughout the community; and

WHEREAS, She will receive the award at the 62nd Annual Woman of the Year Recognition Dinner; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Deirdre White and wish her all the best in her future endeavors; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Deirdre White as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
