HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives are pleased to recognize the members of the 
4Illinois Chapter of the National Pan-Hellenic Council, Inc. on 
5the occasion of the organization's 2nd Annual Divine 
6Nine-African American Greek Action Day at the Illinois State 
7Capitol; and
  
 
8    WHEREAS, The National Pan-Hellenic Council, Inc. is 
9composed of nine historically-black international Greek letter 
10sororities and fraternities: Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., 
11Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, 
12Inc., Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., Iota Phi Theta Fraternity, 
13Inc., Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., Sigma Gamma Rho 
14Sorority, Inc., Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc., and Omega Psi 
15Phi Fraternity, Inc.; the NPHC promotes interaction through 
16forums, meetings, and other mediums for the exchange of 
17information and engages in cooperative programming and 
18initiatives through various activities and functions; and


  
 
19    WHEREAS, In the spirit of collaboration and cooperation, 
20members of the Illinois Chapter of the National Pan-Hellenic 
21Council, Inc. will assemble at the Illinois State Capitol on 
22May 4, 2011 to galvanize the Illinois General Assembly around 
23numerous critical issues, such as legislative redistricting,

1education/legislative scholarships, gun control/gun violence, 
2the budget crisis, job creation/jobs for ex-offenders, 
3collective bargaining, workers rights, and health care; 
4therefore, be it
  
 
5    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
6NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
7we recognize the members of the Illinois Chapter of the 
8National Pan-Hellenic Council, Inc. on the occasion of the 
9organization's 2nd Annual Divine Nine-African American Greek 
10Action Day and welcome them to the Illinois State Capitol; and 
11be it further
  
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
13presented to the Illinois Chapter of the National Pan-Hellenic 
14Council, Inc. as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
