| 2 | | WHEREAS, State Representative Monique D. Davis and the |
| 3 | | members of the Illinois House of Representatives resolve to |
| 4 | | work toward the following 10 recommendations set by the College |
| 5 | | Board Advocacy and Policy Center in regard to strengthening |
| 6 | | education in the United States; therefore, be it
|
| 7 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
| 8 | | NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
| 9 | | we resolve to: |
| 10 | | 1. provide a program of voluntary preschool education, |
| 11 | | universally available to children from low-income families; |
| 12 | | 2. improve middle school and high school college |
| 13 | | counseling; |
| 14 | | 3. implement the best research-based dropout prevention |
| 15 | | programs; |
| 16 | | 4. align the K-12 education system with international |
| 17 | | standards and college admission expectations; |
| 18 | | 5. improve teacher quality and focus on recruitment and |
| 19 | | retention; |
| 20 | | 6. clarify and simplify the admission process; |
| 21 | | 7. provide more need-based grant aid while simplifying and |
| 22 | | making financial aid processes more transparent; |
| 23 | | 8. keep college affordable; |
| 24 | | 9. dramatically increase college completion rates; and |
