| 2 | WHEREAS, On March 24, 2011, Teamsters Joint Council 25 | ||||||
| 3 | celebrated its 100th year of service, dedication, and | ||||||
| 4 | representation to the hardworking men and women of Illinois; | ||||||
| 5 | and
| ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, Since March 24, 1911, Teamsters Joint Council 25 | ||||||
| 7 | has represented millions of members with nearly 70 local union | ||||||
| 8 | affiliates throughout the Chicago metropolitan area; as an | ||||||
| 9 | extension of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, the | ||||||
| 10 | organization has brought powerful representation to working | ||||||
| 11 | families in a broad range of industries, from truck drivers, | ||||||
| 12 | haulers, and transporters to meatpackers, bakery workers, | ||||||
| 13 | funeral directors, health care providers, grocers, garage | ||||||
| 14 | attendants, pharmacists, valets, zookeepers, firefighters, | ||||||
| 15 | police officers, court clerks, and beyond; and
| ||||||
| 16 | WHEREAS, Over the last century, Teamsters Joint Council 25 | ||||||
| 17 | has rallied its union brothers and sisters to improve working | ||||||
| 18 | conditions for men and women throughout Illinois and the United | ||||||
| 19 | States of America, helping to establish equal compensation for | ||||||
| 20 | equal work, to secure reasonable wages, pensions, and health | ||||||
| 21 | and welfare benefits, to fight against unfair labor practices | ||||||
| 22 | and afford a resonant voice for American workers; and
| ||||||

| 1 | WHEREAS, For 100 years, compassionate and benevolent labor | ||||||
| 2 | leaders have helped Teamsters Joint Council 25 deliver the best | ||||||
| 3 | representation possible to Teamster affiliates and members, | ||||||
| 4 | including past Presidents William A. Neer, Leslie G. Goudie, | ||||||
| 5 | Frank Brown, Ray Schoessling, and Louis F. Peick, whose actions | ||||||
| 6 | have established and sustained a vibrant labor community in and | ||||||
| 7 | around Chicago for generations; and
| ||||||
| 8 | WHEREAS, The current Executive Board of Teamsters Joint | ||||||
| 9 | Council 25, under the leadership of President John T. Coli, is | ||||||
| 10 | ensuring the Joint Council will remain a role model for | ||||||
| 11 | organization, representation, and charity in Illinois; | ||||||
| 12 | therefore, be it

| 13 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
| 14 | NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
| 15 | we commend and congratulate Teamsters Joint Council 25 on its | ||||||
| 16 | 100th anniversary and for its outstanding and meritorious | ||||||
| 17 | service to the people of the State of Illinois; and we express | ||||||
| 18 | the hope that additional centuries of representation may | ||||||
| 19 | follow; and be it further
| ||||||
| 20 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 21 | presented to President Coli and the Executive Board of | ||||||
| 22 | Teamsters Joint Council 25.
