HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives are pleased to congratulate the Society of 
4American Archivists on the occasion of their 75th anniversary; 
5and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, Founded in 1936, the Society of American 
7Archivists is North America's oldest and largest national 
8archival professional association; their mission is to serve 
9the educational and informational needs of more than 5,500 
10individual and institutional members and to provide leadership 
11to ensure the identification, preservation, and use of records 
12of historical value; and
  
 
13    WHEREAS, The Society is the leading professional 
14association of archivists in the United States, and its 
15membership includes archivists from many countries around the 
16world; and
  
 
17    WHEREAS, The Society is dedicated to the preservation of 
18the nation's historical documentary heritage from governments, 
19religious bodies, business firms, colleges and universities, 
20professional organizations, and individuals, bringing the past 
21into the service of the present and the future; and

1    WHEREAS, The Society of American Archivists will hold its 
275th annual meeting in Chicago on August 22-27, 2011, at the 
3site of its national headquarters; therefore, be it
  
 
4    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
5NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
6we welcome and congratulate the members of the Society of 
7American Archivists on this historic occasion; and be it 
8further
  
 
9    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
10presented to the Society of American Archivists as a symbol of 
11our respect and esteem.
