| 2 | | WHEREAS, Lory L. Price was the first motorcycle State |
| 3 | | patrolman to serve in southern Illinois; and
|
| 4 | | WHEREAS, Lory Price and his wife were kidnapped and |
| 5 | | murdered by the notorious Charlie Birger Gang on January 17, |
| 6 | | 1927; and
|
| 7 | | WHEREAS, Lory Price was honored on the National Law |
| 8 | | Enforcement Memorial in Washington, D.C. for his sacrifice; and
|
| 9 | | WHEREAS, The bravery and dedication of Lory Price, as well |
| 10 | | as the tragic manner in which he died, should be memorialized |
| 11 | | in a befitting place and manner; therefore, be it
|
| 12 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
| 13 | | NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
| 14 | | we designate the portion of State Highway 13 between Route 166 |
| 15 | | and the Saline County line as the "Lory L. Price Memorial |
| 16 | | Highway" in honor of the service and sacrifice of Lory L. |
| 17 | | Price; and be it further
|
| 18 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
| 19 | | presented to the Williamson County Historical Society.
