HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives are pleased to congratulate the members of the 
4Small Business Advocacy Council on the occasion of the 
5organization's first anniversary of advocacy on behalf of small 
6businesses; and
  
 
7    WHEREAS, The Small Business Advocacy Council (SBAC) was 
8formed by a group of business owners and professionals who 
9became convinced that the only way to be heard was to organize 
10and pool their resources together; the SBAC is a non-partisan 
11501(c)(6) non-profit organization that is intensely focused on 
12the issues that impact small businesses; and
  
 
13    WHEREAS, The SBAC seeks to strongly support its members by 
14providing networking, advertising, and promotional 
15opportunities that will sustain those that care enough to stand 
16with small business and hard-working Americans; and
  
 
17    WHEREAS, Over 230 businesses have joined the SBAC since 
18March of 2010, including law firms, real estate brokers, 
19commercial property owners, restaurants, radio personalities, 
20corporate executives, accounting firms, insurance agencies, 
21general contractors, film producers, traders, venture 
22capitalists, and business coaches, among many others; and

1    WHEREAS, The SBAC has created numerous beneficial programs 
2for its members, including an Office Sharing program that 
3affords members access to meeting space in the City of Chicago 
4and the suburbs at no cost and complimentary Happy Hour events 
5every month; the organization is also in the process of forming 
6a health insurance pool for its members; therefore, be it
  
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
8NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
9we congratulate the members of the Small Business Advocacy 
10Council on the occasion of the organization's first anniversary 
11of advocacy and wish them the best of luck on their one-year 
12anniversary celebration on June 16, 2011; and be it further
  
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
14presented to the Small Business Advocacy Council as a symbol of 
15our esteem and respect.
