HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives are pleased to congratulate Isabel Tellez, 
4Principal at Kelvyn Park High School in Chicago, on her many 
5years of hard work and dedication to the education of young 
6people; and
  
 
7    WHEREAS, She received her Bachelor of Arts in Spanish from 
8Northeastern Illinois University in 1987; she received her 
9Master of Science in Education from the National College of 
10Education in 1989; she received her second Master of Science in 
11Education from Chicago State University in 1991; and she 
12received a Certificate of Advanced Study in School 
13Administration from National Louis University in 1998; and
  
 
14    WHEREAS, She began her teaching career at Alcott Elementary 
15School in 1987; she moved to the Department of Truancy 
16Prevention with the Chicago Public Schools in 1992; she later 
17moved to the Department of Funded Programs in 2000; she served 
18as Management Support Director for Cluster Two in the Chicago 
19Public Schools from 2004 to 2005; in 2005, she accepted the 
20position of Assistant Principal at F.W. Reilly Elementary 
21School; and in 2009, she was appointed the Principal at Kelvyn 
22Park High School; and

1    WHEREAS, Under Isabel Tellez's leadership, academic 
2achievement and Freshman on Track increased, standardized test 
3scores increased, attendance rate increased, and acts of 
4misconduct decreased during her first year as principal at 
5Kelvyn Park High School; and
 
6    WHEREAS, She is a hard worker, dedicated to making school a 
7positive environment for her students, and is loved by her 
8community; during her time as Principal she has initiated a 
9"Safe Passage" area around the school, personally keeping gangs 
10and gang intimidation away from her students; therefore, be it
  
 
11    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
12NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
13we thank Isabel Tellez for her years of dedicated service in 
14the education field and for her dedication and commitment to 
15the Kelvyn Park High School community and wish her the best in 
16all her future endeavors and a prompt recovery; and be it 
17further
  
 
18    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
19presented to Isabel Tellez as a symbol of our respect and 
20esteem.
