| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 | | Representatives are pleased to congratulate Ann Ford on her |
| 4 | | 70th birthday, July 26, 2011; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, She was born in Indiana; her work in the field of |
| 6 | | independent living has taken her from Massachusetts to |
| 7 | | Illinois, where she currently resides in Springfield and serves |
| 8 | | as the Executive Director of the Illinois Network of Centers |
| 9 | | for Independent Living; and
|
| 10 | | WHEREAS, She has a Bachelor's degree from Roosevelt |
| 11 | | University in Chicago; she began her career in 1967 at the |
| 12 | | National Spinal Cord Injury Association; she was the first |
| 13 | | director of the Peoria Center for Independent Living; she later |
| 14 | | moved to Glen Ellyn and founded the DuPage Center for |
| 15 | | Independent Living; and
|
| 16 | | WHEREAS, In her work she has drafted legislation, served on |
| 17 | | the Governor's Disability Services Advisory Committee, the |
| 18 | | Advisory Committee for the Health Benefits of Workers with |
| 19 | | Disabilities, and other councils and advisory groups; and
|
| 20 | | WHEREAS, She is considered one of the leading authorities |
| 21 | | on disability rights in the State of Illinois and the Midwest |
