HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives are pleased to congratulate the congregation 
4of Christian Tabernacle Church in Roselle as they celebrate 30 
5years of ministry; and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, The church was started in November of 1981, 
7convening at the home of Howard and Sandy Cumberlander; while 
8at the home, the people  collected an offering of $7 and 
9appointed Don Carter treasurer and Sandra Cumberlander the 
10financial secretary; they  accepted Grace Carter's suggestion 
11to name the church Christian Tabernacle Church and installed 
12Reverend Raymond Pope as pastor; and
  
 
13    WHEREAS, Reverend Pope was the first pastor of Christian 
14Tabernacle Church; in January of 1982, the church moved to the 
15Twinbrook YMCA of Schaumburg and to Elk Grove Presbyterian 
16Church in March of 1982; and
  
 
17    WHEREAS, In December of 1984, Pastor Pope resigned and left 
18for a ministry in California; Reverend Stewart became interim 
19pastor in September of 1985 and was installed as pastor in 
20April of 1986; and
  
 
21    WHEREAS, The church bought their present church home in

1Roselle in 1989; in 2003, the church purchased 10 acres of land 
2and burned the mortgage in 2006; and
  
 
3    WHEREAS, Pastor Stewart resigned in 2008; on November 1, 
42010, Pastor Jenkins became the new pastor of Christian 
5Tabernacle Church; therefore, be it
  
 
6    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
7NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
8we congratulate the congregation of Christian Tabernacle 
9Church and wish them continued success in the future; and be it 
10further
  
 
11    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
12presented to Christian Tabernacle Church as a symbol of our 
13respect and esteem.
