HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives are pleased to congratulate the National 
4Insurance Crime Bureau on its upcoming 100th anniversary in 
52012; and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, With a nearly 100-year heritage, the National 
7Insurance Crime Bureau (NICB) is the nation's premier 
8not-for-profit organization dedicated exclusively to fighting 
9insurance fraud and crime and is the only private organization 
10in the United States that gathers the collective resources 
11needed to prevent, detect, and deter these crimes; and
  
 
12    WHEREAS, The NICB was formed in 1992 from a merger between 
13the National Automobile Theft Bureau (NATB) and the Insurance 
14Crime Prevention Institute (ICPI), both of which were 
15not-for-profit organizations; and
  
 
16    WHEREAS, The NATB, which managed vehicle theft 
17investigations and developed vehicle theft databases for use by 
18the insurance industry, dates to the early 20th century, while 
19the ICPI investigated insurance fraud for approximately 20 
20years before joining with the NATB to form the present National 
21Insurance Crime Bureau; and

1    WHEREAS, Today, the  membership of the National Insurance 
2Crime Bureau includes more than 1,000 commercial and personal 
3line property and casualty insurers, self-insured 
4organizations, rental car companies, parking services 
5providers, and transportation-related firms; and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, More than 300 employees work with law enforcement 
7agencies, technology experts, government officials, 
8prosecutors, international crime-fighting organizations, and 
9the public to accomplish its mission to prevent and combat 
10insurance fraud crimes; therefore, be it
  
 
11    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
12NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
13we congratulate the members of the National Insurance Crime 
14Bureau on its anniversary and wish the Bureau continued success 
15in the future; and be it further
  
 
16    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
17presented to the National Insurance Crime Bureau as a symbol of 
18our respect and esteem.
