HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives are pleased to congratulate Vern Maas on the 
4occasion of his retirement after many years of service with 
5Ameren Illinois on December 31, 2011; and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, Vern Maas began his career with Ameren on November 
75, 1964 as an unskilled worker making $2.42 an hour; in June of 
81965, he joined the Gas Flow and Pressure Group; 2 years later, 
9he became a journeyman; he subsequently worked his way up to 
10the positions of Crewleader in 1972 and Foreman in 1976; and
  
 
11    WHEREAS, In 1980, Vern Maas was promoted to the position of 
12Gas Pressure Field Supervisor; he also spent time as a Gas 
13Construction Supervisor from 1996 to 1997 and Gas Control 
14Supervisor from 1989 to 1991, before returning to the position 
15of Gas Regulation Supervisor in 1997; in 2004, he was promoted 
16to Superintendent of Gas Technical Service, where he remained 
17until his retirement; and
  
 
18    WHEREAS, Vern Maas was the recipient of the CILCO Award of 
19Merit in 1999 for his efforts in helping rescue a 79 year old 
20gentleman whose boat had capsized on Clinton Lake; he was also 
21the recipient of Ameren's President's Performance Leadership 
22Award in 2005 and 2010; and

1    WHEREAS, Vern Maas is the loving father of 2 children and 2 
2stepchildren and the grandfather of 4 grandchildren and 2 
3step-grandchildren; and
  
 
4    WHEREAS, Vern Maas serves as a model of hard work, 
5integrity, and dedication for the people of the State of 
6Illinois; therefore, be it
  
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
8NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
9we congratulate Vern Maas on the occasion of his retirement and 
10wish him many happy and healthy retirement years; and be it 
11further
  
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
13presented to Vern Maas as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
