HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, Bob Spoo has retired after coaching high school 
3and collegiate football for 50 years, the last 25 as the head 
4coach at Eastern Illinois University; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, Coach Bob Spoo recorded 144 wins during his 25 
6years at Eastern Illinois University, the most in school 
7history; and
  
 
8    WHEREAS, Nine of Coach Bob Spoo's Eastern Illinois 
9University teams appeared in NCAA post-season tournaments, the 
10fifth most in the history of the NCAA Football Championship 
11Subdivision; and
  
 
12    WHEREAS, Coach Spoo was honored with 4 conference "Coach of 
13the Year" awards and was once named runner-up for national 
14"Coach of the Year"; and

  
 
15    WHEREAS, Coach Spoo's 25 years at Eastern Illinois 
16University rank him fourth among active NCAA Division I coaches 
17for longest tenure at the same university; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Coach Spoo's 50 years of service brought honor and 
19distinction to Eastern Illinois University and the State of 
20Illinois due to his integrity, his dedication, and his

1commitment to mentoring thousands of young men; therefore, be 
2it
  
 
3    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
4NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
5we congratulate Coach Bob Spoo on his retirement and wish him 
6continued success in the future; and be it further
  
 
7    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
8presented to Coach Bob Spoo as a symbol of our respect and 
9esteem.
