| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives are pleased to congratulate John T. Hooker on | ||||||
| 4 | his retirement from ComEd; and
| ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, He is the Executive Vice President of Legislative | ||||||
| 6 | and External Affairs,
and is responsible for managing State | ||||||
| 7 | legislative initiatives, as well as
developing and maintaining | ||||||
| 8 | strategic relationships with key State
stakeholders and large | ||||||
| 9 | customers; he also oversees the functions of
Real Estate and | ||||||
| 10 | Facilities and Economic Development; and
| ||||||
| 11 | WHEREAS, Prior to his appointment as executive vice | ||||||
| 12 | president, he served as
senior vice president of Legislative & | ||||||
| 13 | Governmental Affairs and was responsible for managing
ComEd's | ||||||
| 14 | relationships with the Chicago City Council, the Illinois | ||||||
| 15 | General Assembly, and other State
agencies; previous to that | ||||||
| 16 | position, he served as senior vice president of Legislative & | ||||||
| 17 | External Affairs for
ComEd; and
| ||||||
| 18 | WHEREAS, At the same time he served as vice president, | ||||||
| 19 | Property Management, Exelon Energy
Delivery, with | ||||||
| 20 | responsibility for facilities, real estate, and claims at both | ||||||
| 21 | ComEd and Philadelphia-based
sister company PECO Energy; and
| ||||||

| |||||||
| 1 | WHEREAS, He has served in numerous ComEd departments for 44 | ||||||
| 2 | years, holding management positions in
industrial relations, | ||||||
| 3 | marketing, governmental, and regulatory affairs; his expertise | ||||||
| 4 | was instrumental to
the passage of Illinois' Customer Choice | ||||||
| 5 | Law of 1997; he is a founding member of the Exelon African | ||||||
| 6 | American Members' Association (EAAMA); founded in 1990, the | ||||||
| 7 | organization focuses on building members' individual growth | ||||||
| 8 | opportunities within
the company; and
| ||||||
| 9 | WHEREAS, He serves on the board of directors of the Chicago | ||||||
| 10 | State University Foundation; the Peoples Consumer Cooperative; | ||||||
| 11 | the Safer Foundation;
Junior Achievement; and The
African | ||||||
| 12 | American Legacy Initiative; he is a member of the American | ||||||
| 13 | Association of Black in Energy, an organization devoted to
| ||||||
| 14 | increasing the number of blacks and other minorities in | ||||||
| 15 | energy-related fields; he also is a member of
Chicago State | ||||||
| 16 | University's Business Hall of Fame committee, and is involved | ||||||
| 17 | with the Chicago Public
Schools Youth Motivation Program; | ||||||
| 18 | therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 19 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
| 20 | NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
| 21 | we congratulate John T. Hooker on his retirement and wish him | ||||||
| 22 | the best in his future endeavors; and be it further
| ||||||
| 23 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||

| 1 | presented to John T. Hooker as a symbol of our respect and | ||||||
| 2 | esteem.
