HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are pleased to congratulate Sylvia Jo Oglesby
4on the occasion of her 75th birthday on February 15, 2012; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Sylvia Jo Oglesby is an active participant in
6numerous HIV/AIDS events, community AIDS walks, awards
7dinners, holiday celebrations, and other events; she is the
8founder and coordinator of the Clergy Leadership Summit for
9HIV/AIDS Community Outreach; she is the founder of the Bright
10Lights AIDS Run/Walk Team, which participates in the annual
11AIDS Foundation of Chicago Run/Walk event; she developed the
12Chicago Black Methodists for Church Renewal's Keeping Hope
13Alive HIV/AIDS Ministry (K.H.A.M.), and led the organization
14for 10 years; she coordinated short-term HIV/AIDS prevention
15programs for the Trinity United Church of Christ's
16Amani-Trinity United Health Corporation and for the Grand
17Boulevard Federation in Bronzeville; she is also actively
18involved with the Southside HIV/AIDS Resource Providers
19(S.H.A.R.P.), community outreach and support initiatives, and
20faith and community endeavors; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Sylvia Jo Oglesby is the founder and coordinator
22of Englewood Advocates of Grace for Lives, Education, and
23Service (E.A.G.L.E.S.); and

1    WHEREAS, Sylvia Jo Oglesby received a resolution from the
2Chicago City Council on December 1, 2004 for her work in
3organizing Chicago World AIDS Day activities; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Sylvia Jo Oglesby will celebrate her 75th birthday
5with a public party in her honor on February 18, 2012 at
6Hartzell Memorial United Methodist Church in Chicago;
7therefore, be it
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
9NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
10we congratulate Sylvia Jo Oglesby on the occasion of her 75th
11birthday and wish her continued success and happiness in her
12future endeavors; and be it further
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14presented to Sylvia Jo Oglesby as a symbol of our esteem and
15respect.
