HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives are pleased to congratulate Eagle Pointe, 
4Freedom, Liberty, and Walker's Grove elementary schools in 
5School District 202 on receiving a 2011 Academic Excellence 
6Award from the Illinois State Board of Education; and
  
 
7    WHEREAS, The honor recognizes schools that have sustained 
8very high academic performance over at least 3 years; the 
9Academic Excellence Award is part of the Illinois Honor Roll 
10program that recognizes schools for continued academic 
11progress; and
  
 
12    WHEREAS, To earn the Academic Excellence Award, at least 
1390% of elementary and middle school students must have met or 
14exceeded State reading and math standards for at least 3 
15consecutive years; and
  
 
16    WHEREAS, In 2011, 91% of Eagle Pointe students met State 
17reading and math standards; 94% of Freedom students met State 
18reading and math standards; 94% of Liberty students met State 
19reading and math standards; and 92% of Walker's Grove students 
20met State reading and math standards; and
  
 
21    WHEREAS, Six years ago, District 202 engaged in a plan to

1create a school system in which every student can achieve his 
2or her maximum potential; and
  
 
3    WHEREAS, The Superintendent of School for District 202 is 
4Dr. John Harper; therefore, be it
  
 
5    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
6NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
7we congratulate the students, staff, and faculty of Eagle 
8Pointe, Freedom, Liberty, and Walker's Grove elementary 
9schools on receiving a 2011 Academic Excellence Award; and be 
10it further
  
 
11    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
12presented to Superintendent of Schools Dr. John Harper as a 
13symbol of our respect and esteem.
