HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives are pleased to congratulate Kate Page, 7th and 
48th grade science and social studies teacher at Alton Middle 
5School, on winning the Peabody Logos Leader in Education award; 
6and
  
 
7    WHEREAS, She received the news   about the award on February 
87, 2012;  a $1,000 check awaited her, as well as a gift basket 
9with a flip camera that records videos, along with numerous 
10smaller teacher goodies; and
  
 
11    WHEREAS, She was chosen among 42 nominees for the award; 
12she plans to use the money for a new school-Drug Free Alton 
13Coalition project to revitalize Rock Spring Park, located 
14adjacent to the school; and
  
 
15    WHEREAS, She also plans to teach students the proper and 
16safe way to collect paint samples from old playground equipment 
17to test for lead; and
  
 
18    WHEREAS, In addition to the first award, students can go on 
19Facebook and vote for her to receive the Peabody Educator of 
20the Year award later this year; and

1    WHEREAS, St. Louis-based Peabody Energy and its partner, 
2Logos School of Olivette, Missouri, developed the Leaders 
3program in 2009 to honor those who inspire students in 
4communities where Peabody employees live and work; therefore, 
5be it
  
 
6    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
7NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
8we congratulate Kate Page and wish her the best in her future 
9endeavors; and be it further
  
 
10    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
11presented to Kate Page as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
