HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, During the 97th General Assembly,   House 
3Resolution 550 created the  Firearm Public Awareness Task Force 
4which was charged with finding and analyzing  data from states 
5that have concealed carry laws, especially those states with  
6significant similarities to Illinois; and
  
 
7    WHEREAS, The Task Force was to consider, if a concealed 
8carry law is passed in Illinois, how  public safety could be 
9maintained, whether a change in the law would create a  need for 
10police sensitivity training, and what type of public 
11information campaign about a concealed carry law  would be 
12appropriate; and
  
 
13    WHEREAS, The Task Force was to report its findings and 
14recommendations to the General Assembly on or before March 1, 
152012; and
  
 
16    WHEREAS, The Task Force needs
additional time to complete 
17its work; and
  
 
18    WHEREAS, The Department of State Police was to provide 
19administrative and other support to the Task Force for no more 
20than 3 meetings; and

1    WHEREAS, The Task Force needs support for more than 3 
2meetings; therefore, be it


  
 
3    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
4NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
5the Task Force shall submit a report, as required in House 
6Resolution 550 of the 97th General Assembly, no later than 
7April 1, 2012; and be it further
 
8    RESOLVED,  That the Department of State Police shall  provide 
9administrative and other support to the Task Force for no more 
10than 6 meetings.
