| 2 | | WHEREAS, Sarah Salameh, an esteemed resident of Plainfield |
| 3 | | and a senior at the Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy in |
| 4 | | Aurora, has achieved national recognition for exemplary |
| 5 | | volunteer service by receiving a 2012 Prudential Spirit of |
| 6 | | Community Award; and
|
| 7 | | WHEREAS, This prestigious award, presented by Prudential |
| 8 | | Financial in partnership with the National Association of |
| 9 | | Secondary School Principals, honors young volunteers across |
| 10 | | America who have demonstrated an extraordinary commitment to |
| 11 | | serving their communities; and
|
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Sarah Salameh earned this award by spending last |
| 13 | | summer volunteering with the environmental group SCARCE |
| 14 | | (School and Community Assistance for Recycling and Composting |
| 15 | | Education); much of Sarah's time was spent volunteering for the |
| 16 | | SCARCE Book Rescue by helping teachers in low-income schools |
| 17 | | select much-needed books and supplies; and
|
| 18 | | WHEREAS, The success of the State of Illinois, the strength |
| 19 | | of our communities, and the overall vitality of American |
| 20 | | society depend, in great measure, upon the dedication of young |
| 21 | | people like Sarah Salameh who use their considerable talents |
